What is PRP?
PRP, or Platelet-Rich Plasma, is a medical treatment that utilizes the patient’s own blood which is processed to concentrate platelets.
Platelets contain growth factors and other bioactive proteins that play a crucial role in tissue repair and regeneration.
How Does PRP Work?
- Blood Collection:
A small amount of the patient’s blood is drawn, similar to a routine blood test.
- Centrifugation:
The blood is then placed in a centrifuge, a machine that spins rapidly, separating its components based on density.
This process concentrates the platelets and other growth factors.
- Platelet-Rich Plasma Extraction:
The concentrated platelets, now in a plasma form, are extracted and prepared for application.
- Application to Treatment Area:
The PRP is then applied to the targeted area, often through injections.
This can be done in various medical and aesthetic treatments.
