Tour Description

This is a very special tour for discovering Ancient Smyrna and modern Izmir! We will pick up you from your hotel in Kusadasi/ Selcuk/ Izmir and drive to city center. After arriving in Izmir Centre, our first stop will be St. Polycarp Church which is dedicated to St. Polycarp 2nd century Bishop Polycarp who was burned alive at the age of 85. Kemeralti Bazaar is a historical bazaar which includes the area from Mezarlik  to Konak Square which is the main avenue of the bazaar today. Konak Square, one of the most beautiful starting points for exploring Izmir, is one of the symbol squares of Izmir, along with Cumhuriyet and Gundogdu squares. The square is located at the entrance of Kemeralti Bazaar. Izmir Clock Tower, the symbol of Izmir, Konak Yali Mosque, the Government House and the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Building, are located in the square.

The square hosts events organized on special dates such as New Year’s Eve and the Liberation Day of Izmir. Clock Tower which is located in Konak Square and is the symbol of Izmir, was constructed in 1901 to celebrate the 25th anniversary ofthe reign of Sultan Abdulhamid II. This building is 25 meters high and has four floors octagonal plan. Kadifekale is an antique castle located on Pagos Hill in Old Smyrna by order of Lysimachus (Successor of Alexander the Great).

When the trip is canceled by the client 60 or more days prior to the start of the trip, he/she shall be able to request and receive a full refund. When cancellation happens between 59 and 30 days prior to the start of the trip, the client will be able to obtain a refund of 50% of the trip price. When cancellation is requested less than 29 days prior to the start of the trip, he/she will not be able to obtain any refund whatsoever.
